Hello My Name Is...
Ashton Keck
I began my educational journey by studying K-12 Special Education. I later
went on to receive a master’s degree in Educational Psychology. In my time as
teacher, I have taught in the United States as a behavior strategist, and in
both Panama and Costa Rica as an international elementary teacher and special
education teacher.
As a teacher, I believe that all children are creative individuals who will
flourish when provided a safe, nurturing environment with a teacher who can
guide them to discover their strengths. In order to help children uncover their
full potential, I understand the importance of first developing a relationship
with them. I emphasize genuinely getting to know my students and what makes
them unique. Once I can truly know the child, I work to structure educational
experiences that meet their strengths and needs by emphasizing their individual
learning styles and interests.
In my free time, I enjoy being with my two dogs, traveling, and running.
When I am not at school, I am most likely to be seen running all around
town. I have developed a strong passion for ultra-running, a sport defined as
any running distance over 50km. With this sport, I have developed strong discipline
and a sense that anything can be accomplished when a person’s mind and heart
are set on something. I take this philosophy of life and running and share it
with my students. No matter how hard or long a goal may seem, sometimes we just
have to take it one step at a time and really want it to achieve it.
